Typepad tools tell me that sometime around midnight GMT+1 (or 6 p.m. EDT) yesterday I had the 100000th lifetime pageview for this blog. I have created it three years ago. So that would mean, that my mother checked it out approximately 91 times per day. Assuming that she is awake 16 hours per day that would be every 10 minutes she hits my blog. Thank you Mom ! Do you want me to call more often ?
Or to borrow a quote from Julie ("& Julia") Powell : "And that was such a great moment, when I realized, “Ohmigod, someone other than my mom and my aunt are reading what I’m writing.” I don't have (and don't target) a huge audience, and the number of hits is really peanuts, but what really counts is I made a couple of new real friends through this blog (one even has the keys to my appartment now), "older" friends and family have found a way to know what's going on in my life, sometimes the blog has worked as "psychotherapy" for myself, and I believe I encouraged a couple of people to think about a career change as well, and I know some were even inspired to go to Ferrandi. If I only inspired or encouraged one single person, all the writing was worth while. Actually I had also been motivated to change career by reading a couple of blogs 4 years ago, so I always felt I have to pass on this experience.
I have lazy periods, but then I also have creative phases like right now, where I like to share more frequently what's going on. Even if I don't always take the time to answer comments regularly and in detail (often I read them at 2 a.m. when I return crushed from work), I love every single one I get (except two or three nasty ones I deleted ;).
Merci, and I hope you will keep reading and enjoying.
